Time Flies

I just realized that it has already been a week since I blogged last....AND we have been home from the hospital for 2 weeks! Time just flies by! This past week has been a great one. We have had some fun moments....especially giving the boys their first bath in their bath tub. I will post pictures soon of what they looked like in their monkey bath robes. They were just too cute. It was especially funny when Whit decided he would pee all over the kitchen....OOPS! At least we got a good laugh out of it.
This coming week will be eventful in our house. Monday we have a pediatrician appt, Tuesday my mom is bringing my grandparents to see the boys, and Wed I have a Dr. appt. What's funny is my Dr. office already called me to make sure I would bring the boys with me. Of course I am! I have to show them off!
I think the only downer lately has been my job situation. I know what you are thinking...you are a teacher, how can you possibly be having problems finding a job???? Well because of CMS and some technical details, I am being pushed out of a job with CMS. I do have options now but it will either mean I have a big pay cut or I may have to stay home for a year. We are also trying to decide how cost effective it would be considering we have to put 2 boys into daycare at the same time. Anyway, I hate to dwell on it, but it has been a source of some stress. Everyone just say a short prayer that everything will work out how it is supposed to. I know at this point, I have to let God help me make this decision.

Boys Boys Boys

As most people know, I havent had much time to blog lately. I delivered by 2 baby boys on April 9th at 3:24 and 3:25 in the morning. Yes, I had been at the hospital since the day before at 7am. Talk about a long stay. Then, I stayed at the hospital until last Sunday (a week ago). I figure stay as long as I can and get as much sleep as possible. Trust me, it helped! I ended up having a C-section delivery. Which, as long as they came out healthy, I didn't care how they came out. And I got my wish. Both boys Joseph Whitmire and Benjamin Parker are as healthy as can be. They came out at 7lbs 7 oz and 6 lbs 15 oz. I mean HOLY COW! I had over 15 lbs of baby in my stomach. Anyone that saw me the week before would have believed it. I couldn't tell you how many people stopped me to say "wow, you are about to pop!" I will have to stay I am not super excited about how this left my tummy looking BUT it was completely worth it. At least I can say that in the past 2 weeks, I have lost over 40 pounds! Talk about a record!

Anyway, the latest on the boys is that of course we are not sleeping through the night. They wake us up very often so that they can eat. That means that there have been times where I have been breastfeeding and I don't really think I was awake. We have discovered that soy formula is the way to go with these boys. They seem so much happier. This morning, we introduced the boys to ocean sounds to help them sleep...talk about an amazing invention! Granted I may dream about the beach for the next year but at least I may get some peace and quiet here and there. Overall, the boys have been wonderful...fussy at times but hey, what do you expect from 2 newborns in the same house. I will have to brag a little though when I say that at the pediatrician's office, the Dr. said that we have 2 perfect little boys! I mean of course I agree with her. I definitely think we have 2 of the cutest boys in the whole world!

I will try to keep you updated when I have a moment...in other words, don't hold your breath that I will have a daily blog anymore!

Waffles and Slushees

Well anyone that has talked to me in the past few days knows just how excited I am about tomorrow morning. I will admit though that last night, Chip and I were relaxing and watching TV and I looked at him and said, "Holy cow, I can't believe I will be having babies in a couple of days!" I think it is now starting to sink in that tomorrow I really will have 2 babies!!!
A little explination on the title for today though....
Saturday, Chip and I found a new place near our house that served shaved ice. It sounded good but so did the smoothie so I opted for the smoothie. Then, yesterday I got up and watched the food network and on Everyday Italian, they were making shaved ice. Then I decided that it was a sign...I needed some sort of shaved ice. So Chip, being as thoughtful as ever, took me to Sonic to get a slush. Talk about refreshment. I think that is one of the first real cravings I have had! Then, last night, Chip asked me if I wanted to go to a local restaurant for breakfast today since it may be my last yummy meal for a couple of days...I said of course! I want a belgian waffle! So this morning, first thing, I got my waffle. That was a definite craving too. I decided that maybe my cravings waited until the end to slam down on me! Today, I am hoping that maybe I can talk Chip into going with me for another slush....that was sooooo good!!!!

Well just as I did yesterday, I will resume my spot on the bed or couch and relax for the day. Only today, I won't have Chip's parents coming over to fix me a yummy lunch...too bad! Then we will await my mom and Mike's arrival to the house. I am very excited that they are coming tonight! And trust me, there will be updates tomorrow.

Oh Happy Day!

I had to steal the title of Paige's blog since she seemed to have the right idea. I was too lazy last night to give the Dr. update, but I am ready now. Talk about the best visit to the doctor I have seen lately!
They noticed that I was having contractions during my non stress test. Now just that news would have made me happy for the day because that means we are closer. Then I went to see the actual Dr. and he checked me and asked, "How is Tuesday for you?" I was soooooooo excited!!!! I said that Tues is a wonderful day for me! So, this means that on Tues at 7am I have to be at the hospital and ready to have babies because they are coming...unless they come before that. Talk about a big change from my last dr appt! And the best part about it, MY dr. will be the one that delivers the boys. Talk about making me happy - I would have been fine with anyone delivering me as long as they got them out BUT its just a bonus that it is going to be MY doctor.
So the mayhem begins. I know that we will have lots of visitors at the hospital and at home once we get back here. My mom and stepdad are coming on Monday so that we are all ready. Paige said that she will add pictures to her blog as the boys get here so refer back to her blog link above to see the latest pictures - unless we link them to mine.
So EDIBLE ART - Whomever has April 8th will hopefully be the winner...but don't count your ducks yet...that is we are hoping that they come that day...Hopefully they won't be stubborn and not want to come but I foresee the April 8th person winning!
Well, I have shared my excitement. Now, time to rest for the weekend and get as much sleep as possible since I will not get ANY come next week.

Blessings

Well as you can tell in the last few days, I haven't been exactly the happiest person in the world. As I have sat back and thought about how down in the dumps I have been, I had to also think to myself how many blessings I have too. I decided that it was definitely time for a little quiet time to think about the things I am thankful for. I decided that even though it was a broad subject, I would write about how thankful I am for my support system.
I had no doubt in my mind after college that I would move back to Charlotte. Now I really understand why. I have the best support system here that I could ever ask for.
My most important support system is my husband who just knew to sit in silence with me in the car when I was super pissed the other day and who took me to get ice cream last night even though he had already eaten a little bit of dessert. He even took one for the team and ate some ice cream too. And even though he hasn't wanted to, he has gotten me countless cups of water and given me numerous back rubs just to make me happy.
There is of course the obvious support system of my family. That includes my in-law family too. The fact that my mom has her cell phone on vibrate in her pocket everyday at work just waiting for me to call her with good news, I can tell she is so excited. And who would have thought, my stepdad Mike, I can tell he is excited too...even though his latest advice to me was to just sit and push and maybe they would just come out. And my sister calls me every couple of days just to see how I am doing. My in-laws have definitely gone over and beyond their call of duty to make sure I see their support...I mean heck, Paige spent her morning yesterday researching ways to induce labor (granted some were a little over the top). But Robin and Bill have gone out of their way to help me too...Robin was even willing to bring me lunch yesterday when she was no where near my house.
But besides family, talk about a huge group of friends. Between some of my best friends that call everyday just about and my friends at all of my jobs (school and Edible Art) who are always waiting to hear new news. My church family that has given me tons and tons of support, and my CMOMs ladies who always keep up with the latest news. And all of the people who have taken me to lunch (ex. Sally is today :)) and offered to get me out of the house so I don't get too bored. And I can't forget the friends that have just come by the house and sat with me for a few hours just to keep my company.
This is the awesome support system I have and I am thankful for every person.

So maybe this is the sappy part of being pregnant but oh well...sometimes you just have to stop and think of the blessings.

Oh yes, and another blessing that our family just got was that Chip found out that he has been promoted with the Navy Reserves. I know he is sooo happy about that and so am I. Not that I know what that means. I know he gets an extra word added to his title and our family will now have a few extra dollars (especially because now we need it the most). But I am very happy for him and I know he has worked hard to get it. Congrats sweetheart!

I mean COME ON!

Well here is the latest Dr. update. I don't like Dr. Matkins at Eastover. I have seen him multiple times now and never gotten a great feel for him. Some people go to their jobs and say, this is just another day that I am getting paid. Some go and have a positive attitude and say...hopefull I will make someones day today. This guy is definitely not in it to be the positive, friendly guy.

Conclusion from the appt. The babies look fine and I have to go back on Thursday. BUT I will be seeing a different doctor...No questions asked. If you can't tell, I definitely didn't hear anything close to what I wanted to hear yesterday. Oh well...different doctor, different day, hopefully different news.

I hate to be the whiner but trust me, when you have babies in your stomach that weigh this much, you don't have 1 pair of shoes that can go over the swollen feet, not an outfit that really fits you, and you can't sleep, this is how you get. So everyone, say a little prayer that these boys will see the light and decide to come on out this week!
